just finished it an hour ago - it's not even dry yet.
i basically painted this in hopes that i would get into a local show. the theme they gave the artists was "humans and other animals."
acrylic, oil, paper, tape, 30-something" by 20-something"
ready for some b.s.? here's an explanation of some of what i'm thinking about the painting. the bird is painted into and out of the background layers to kind of give it a connection and a sense of oneness with the sky (or nature) while the man is viewing the bird and the sky as a separate entity and is kind of longing to be connected again hence the color palette. are you asleep yet?
if not, answer me this: what should i paint this semester? |

of being at home. there's nothing to do here. i'm ready to do something new. i've got canvas and paints and i'm going to start again as soon as i can. anything to get off the couch and away from electronic things.
so i am currently looking at grad school and have it narrowed down to two places (one of which i haven't visited yet). so far i haven't been disappointed at all with the schools i've visited but i don't want to leave edinboro. especially so soon as this spring. i think i've got a little convincing to do.
when it all comes down to it, this is what i did last semester: |if you really want, click on them to see them full sized|

and this is what i did this summer:

| this week while painting: |
[Jun. 21st, 2007|09:08 pm] |
this week while painting:
i helped an old lady cover plywood in a huge thunderstorm who let me use the trails behind her old maple syrup farm to paint at in return.
i saw everyone i have ever known.
i painted ten paintings in five days.
i got hit on by high school girls.
i got better at painting.
a ninja came up to me, took a fighting stance and asked me to paint him.
i got made fun of for being an artist.
i covered at least three shirts in paint.
i found and ate tiny wild strawberries. |

i have been painting outside in the mornings this week and will be for the next four. today i found a road i had never been down and set up my easel, listening to the sounds of cows mooing and birds singing and painting.

i did would i could to make the images look like they really do, but the digital camera mixed with the fluorescent lighting in my room messed with the color beyond what i could fix with photoshop. |

[Apr. 15th, 2007|02:16 pm] |

i've changed the focus of my painting class - since i plan on graduating this coming december and going to a school for a masters in illustration, i decided it was about time that i start doing illustrations. to start building my portfolio i have been working on a series of paintings based on a story that i am writing.
it's really fun to work on something that is all your own idea with a deadline set in stone. i am excited about painting. |

| [ | Mood |
| | hungry | ] | Welcome. If you know me, you know I could never keep up with doing my own website and I find Deviantart too stressful and I've got a backlog of art to look at 1,000 pieces strong. So I've decided to do a "sketch blog." Hopefully, I will be able to keep up with this a little better than those other sites.

I did this drawing at work last week. The guys from The Scurvey Knaves asked me to do a drawing of them that they could pass out at their shows and have their fans color. |
